I want to raise some concerns regarding the recent Discord punishment I received, because I genuinely don't believe it was justified.
The most recent punishment I received was a one-week Discord mute based on the two messages attached below, which were sent shortly after my previous 24-hour mute expired.
From my perspective, toxicity is behaviour that creates a genuinely hostile environment through harassment, personal attacks, or repeated inflammatory behaviour. Looking at these two messages objectively, I don't think they meet that standard. Were they immature? Yes. Were they cheeky? Definitely. Were they a bit provocative? Probably. But toxic? I don't believe they were.
A week-long mute for those messages feels completely disproportionate.
What concerns me more is the overall consistency of Discord moderation. I've seen members of staff argue with players in general chat, joke around before banning people, react to ongoing drama with GIFs, and generally engage in ways that aren't particularly professional. Yet somehow these two messages are considered worthy of a week-long mute. That doesn't feel consistent.
Another issue is that there are no published Discord rules explaining what behaviour is or isn't punishable. You can't reasonably expect members to follow rules that don't actually exist. I'm fully aware I've been warned before—both verbally and in writing—about acting like a twat in Discord, and that's fair enough. If jokes like these aren't acceptable, then I have no problem accepting that. But where is that actually written? If someone can point me to a Discord rule that clearly states this kind of behaviour isn't allowed, I'll happily accept I was in the wrong.
On top of that, I wasn't even told why I was punished. There was no explanation, no clarification, and the messages themselves weren't even removed. At the very least, if you're issuing a punishment, the person receiving it should be told exactly what they've done wrong so they can avoid repeating it.
This is also the second punishment I've received this week that raises concerns about consistency. Earlier in the week I was muted for making a joke about another player, despite another member of staff joining in with the exact same joke. That punishment was later overturned by the same person this complaint concerns. If that punishment was ultimately considered incorrect, despite actually involving another person, then I'm struggling to understand how these latest messages suddenly justify a week-long mute.
I'd also like to raise a concern about how these decisions are being made in general. Trey explained to me—and sorry for dragging you into this, mate, all love
—that whether something is offensive ultimately comes down to the individual staff member's judgement. I completely understand that moderation will always involve some discretion, but discretion should work alongside clear rules, not replace them. Otherwise, two different admins can look at the exact same message and come to completely different conclusions, leaving members guessing where the line actually is.
At the end of the day, I'm not asking staff to stop moderating Discord. If someone is genuinely toxic, abusive, or making the community worse, then by all means deal with it. What I'm asking for is moderation that is fair, proportionate, transparent, and consistent. Right now it feels like punishments are being handed out based on subjective interpretation rather than any published standard, and I don't think that's good for the community or for the staff team.
I'd appreciate this being properly reviewed. This isn't just about my mute—it's about the wider issue of how Discord moderation is currently being handled and whether members are actually being moderated against a consistent and transparent standard.
TL;DR
just unmute me cuh, it aint toxic, be real lad
Additional Point
I have no faith this fourm post gunna do shit all cuz its avi, the highest possible admin, that did it soo like just ban me from the game at this point
oh and thanks chat gpt
