Alright, lets just go ahead and get some clarification out there, as the narrative you are trying to sell to everyone just isnt true. While the timing of the rule changes may seem odd to you, it is just pure coincidence, and I do apologize for that.
With a lot of response from the player base, multiple admins, and myself, sat down the last couple days and reviewed the rules to attempt to make the punishments more appropriately match the impact that the action had on the RP at the time, or the server as a whole. We also dove into the rules to reword rules that we felt may have been worded in a way that could be misunderstood. That is why you will see multiple changes across all rules sections when you review them. The rule specifically in question, referring to what recording software is being used, was rewritten to be directed the act of using any recording software to hide overlays or cheating software. It is not intended to be used to get someone banned just simply because they use a software, that a lesser person, would utilize in a way its not intended, and to use any cheat or anything to give themselves an advantage over others while not making it visibly noticeable in their recording. We are not here to punish people just because they use a certain recording software. That would be unfair to those who have restrictions on what they can use, or what's available to them, and we want to harness an environment that encourages people to have the freedom to make the choices that they want, without fear of repercussions, as long as they are not doing something that causes a negative impact on others or gives them an unfair advantage.
Yes the rules were updated and posted in between the time your initial forum complaint went in, and the time you received my response. You decided to jump in my DMs and basically demand that I ban the other player simply based on your perception of the rule. I DO NOT implement punishments based on DMs nor do I treat anyone differently simply because another player isn't happy. The simple thought that you would be able to come to my DMs, and demand I read and understand the rule in a way it is not intended, because that is what you wanted, is incorrect.
You are correct, we did publish the rules, and there was a period of time before the announcement was published to tell everyone that it was done. The reasoning behind that, is one admin typed the documents as we were doing a full rule review, then they posted them. The time between then and the announcements was the time that the rest of the people involved read over them to ensure everything was published properly and there were still no correction or changes that we missed.
I do apologize that this may seem like you were somehow treated unfair, but you were punished for a clear and intentional rule break, and a retribution punishment to the player that put that complaint in just because you believe that your interpretation of the rule is more correct than the group of individuals whose job it is to write and uphold the rules is simply not going the proper way for things to be handled. The rule that is referenced for this forum, is not the only rule that was changed so please don't make insinuations that we changed one specific rule just to avoid giving another player a punishment.
